Détails sur l'événement

Join Youth Rising Montreal on the last day of Earth week for a presentation from Marlene Hale on the pipeline resistance of the Unist’ot’en camp in Northern BC. Marlene is a Wet’suwet’en chef who became an activist after the RCMP raided an anti-pipeline camp on her territory. She has already had success putting questions of federal consultations with indigenous peoples to high level government officials. Learn more about Marlene here: https://aptnnews.ca/2019/01/23/wetsuweten-chef-turned-activist-in-quebec-ready-to-take-on-the-politicians-to-get-answers-for-her-people-in-b-c/

Marlene will present a short film followed by a powerpoint presentation on pipelines, their impact on the environment and indigenous lands and the lack of response from the Canadian government. She will also discuss next steps for student activists in Montreal. This will be followed by a question and answer period and anyone who wishes can stay for drinks and discussion. Coop Les Récoltes is open until 3 am!

We ask those who can to donate to the legal fund of the Unist’ot’en camp. Follow this link to donate: https://unistoten.camp/support-us/donate/

Coop Les Récoltes has two gender-neutral bathrooms. The event is on the second floor which requires passage through a staircase and is not wheelchair accessible. The venue is equipped with a bar and is fully licensed. Food is not available for purchase, however you are welcome to bring your own!
